Reflections
I was scanning and reviewing my last set of negatives from my photo walk a few weeks ago. I found this photo that has these great reflections in it. Sadly the water wasn't wide enough to capture the entire reflection of the trees in it. I realized I don't shoot nearly enough reflections. It is like anything else with focus and measurement comes improvement. I checked my status in Lightroom and I have exactly 6 other shots including reflections. One of my favorite shots of all time is is my 'Reflections of Central Park West' shot I took in NYC after the Jay Maisel Workshop. I have sold this image a bunch of times and it is even hanging in the lobby of True Sense Imaging the maker of my lovely M9 sensor.
It is funny but practice and focus you can become very good at just about anything. Reflections is something that I want to start noticing. Often when I get a new lens I will shoot with it exclusively for a week or two. When I first started shooting Leica I had an 35mm lens. I found it really frustrating that I couldn't get close and 'engage' my subject. After I had a couple of lenses I found I wasn't really shooting 35mm a lot and always switching lenses to get the shot I want. I ended up doing rounds shooting just the 35mm lens and soon everywhere I looked a 35mm shot was right in front of me.
I am leaving for Sydney tomorrow on a red eye flight and will just bring a 35mm lens with me and a few rolls of TMAX 400 film. 35mm shots will be everywhere. I think the same can be true of reflections if I just learn to look for them.
