A walk with my new Leica M9

A walk with my new Leica M9

I ran down to Leica Ginza on Friday after work to pick up my new M9...

I was having some electrical issues with my M9 and Leica has not been able to get to the bottom of it.   After going back and forth a couple of times they have decided to replace my M9 with a brand new one!   Leica was kind enough to loan me an M8 while my camera was being repaired.   When I went to pick up my new M9 I was surprised to learn that my lenses were back from Germany as well.

I have to say Leica's Customer Service is second to none. Companies respond differently to customer problems but many don't understand it is the response that makes all the difference. Issues happen with products and people understand this but want to feel like the issues are being 'handled'. I easily could have become a very unhappy customer but a more likely outcome is a customer for life.

This is Naoki from Leica Customer Service... Thanks Naoki!

I am very happy to have my entire kit back:

Leica M9 Noctilux 50mm f/0.95 Summilux 35mm f/1.4 Summilux 21mm f/1.4

Shooting with this setup is like nothing else.  It is simply amazing... Read my Leica M9 Review if you want to see all of my thoughts on using Leica.

I picked up a copy of the book 'Tokyo Seen by Magnum Photographers' while I was there.  I figured it would be a nice addition to my Photo Book collection I am beginning to build.

I decided to bring my new Leica M9 out for a walk...but first stopped off at my favorite Bakeshop and grabbed a 'sandwitch'...

I started off with my Noctilux f/0.95.   I really missed shooting with this lens.  I love its ability to isolate subjects.

I love how Police Stations in Japan serve as the place to stop and ask for directions and they were busy yesterday.

I met up with my friend Pieter for a coffee and to return a few Nikon lenses I have been borrowing.

I passed these two girls on my way home dressed up like Hello Kitty.  Not sure what they were doing but I thought it was pretty funny.

I stopped off in Daikanyama on my way home to check out the new Tsutaya Books.

The place is massive and full of English books!

Finding this is going to cost me a fortune.    It is pretty hard to find good photography books in English in Tokyo and this place has 1,000s.  I imagine I will be visiting this place a lot...
