Yesterday I went to Shiubya Tokyu Department Store... I love in some of the parking garages in Tokyo they have car washing services.  It is very convient to drop you car off to be washed and waxed while you shop. Today’s Configuration: Leica M9 and a Noctilux 50mm f/0.95 and Summilux 35mm f/1.4.

I never realized there was a huge book store in there.  I love learning new things about places I have been a million times before.

I walked around Shinjuku a bit.  I love Shinjuku at night... there are always great contrasts of light that you can exploit for great photographs...

I checked out Yodobashi Camera.  I am thinking about getting the bigger Leica flash so I can shoot it off camera with a cord and work on some more traditional street photography a bit.  I like to let people know I am taking their photos so might work it into my own style a bit.  I side tracked myself, as I often do, and started looking at light meteres trying to decide if I needed one of them of I am going to shoot more seriously with a flash.  Anyways something I am thinking about...

Ohhh this burger is back at McDonald's...  This thing is seriously good.  I am on a bit of a health kick right now so I am holding off a bit but man I remember this from last year.   I need to drop 2-3 kilos and get in a little better shape.  Maybe next year!

I popped my head in this Pachiko Parlor for a quick snap.   This is a good exercise on where you should focus when shooting shallow depth of field.    Both were shot with the exact same settings only changing the focus point.  Try this when you are out shooting and you will be surprised on the different effects it can have.

This photo from yesterday's post is a good example of this.  By focusing on the people in the foreground at a very shallow depth of field from a distance really makes them 'pop' in the image and brings in a 3D effect to the image.    Train stations are a great place to practice this.
